Fisher-Price Little People are small, chunky toy figures created for young children, first introduced in 1959 as part of the Fisher-Price “Safety School Bus” playset. Originally called the “Play Family” figures, they were designed with simple peg-style wooden bodies and round heads to be easy for toddlers to grasp and safe for play. In the 1960s, the figures evolved into plastic versions with wider bodies and detailed features, becoming officially known as “Little People” in 1985. Over the decades, Little People expanded into a wide range of playsets—including farms, houses, zoos, and vehicles—encouraging imaginative storytelling and early social learning. Their durable design and friendly appearance have made them a beloved classic in early childhood toys for more than six decade.
