These vocalizations were created by Randy Thom, the film’s sound designer, with contributions from director Dean DeBlois and sound editor Al Nelson. They used a mix of real animal sounds—like cats, elephants, and horses—blended with human noises to bring Toothless’s unique, emotive voice to life.
