Superman × Korejanai Robo - Zarigani Works (McDonald's 2014)

The Superman × Korejanai Robo figure was part of the 2014 McDonald’s Japan Happy Meal (Happy Set) collaboration with Zarigani Works, creators of the quirky Korejanai Robo toy line. This crossover reimagined DC Comics superheroes in the unique, intentionally “off-model” style of Korejanai Robo, known for its retro, handmade look reminiscent of cheap 1980s bootleg toys. The Superman figure featured a boxy, brightly colored robot body with Superman’s signature “S” shield on its chest and a red cape, blending Japanese toy nostalgia with Western pop culture. The limited-edition set also included similarly styled versions of Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash, making it a distinctive fusion of comic book heroes and Japanese design humor.

In May 2022, Jollibee launched a special Jolly Kiddie Meal promotion in the Philippines, featuring toys inspired by the Warner Bros. animated film DC League of Super-Pets. This collaboration brought together beloved DC superheroes and their super-powered pets in a set of six collectible action figures. The lineup included Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Krypto the Superdog, Ace the Bat-Hound and PB the Pig.

Siegel and Shuster read pulp science-fiction and adventure magazines, and many stories featured characters with fantastical abilities such as telepathy, clairvoyance, and superhuman strength. One character in particular was John Carter of Mars from the novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs. John Carter is a human who is transported to Mars, where the lower gravity makes him stronger than the natives and allows him to leap great distances. Another influence was Philip Wylie's 1930 novel Gladiator, featuring a protagonist named Hugo Danner who had similar powers.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a 2016 American superhero film based on the DC Comics characters Batman and Superman. Produced by Warner Bros.
