Pringles

Pringles is a popular stackable potato crisp brand known for its uniform shape and iconic cylindrical can. It was first developed in 1967 by food chemist Fredric J. Baur for Procter & Gamble, who wanted to solve the problem of broken and greasy potato chips in bags. Instead of thinly sliced potatoes, Pringles are made from a dough of dehydrated potatoes, starch, and flour, pressed into their distinctive saddle shape—mathematically called a hyperbolic paraboloid—which allows them to stack neatly. The brand was officially launched in the United States in 1968 as “Pringle’s Newfangled Potato Chips,” and over time it gained worldwide popularity for its unique packaging and flavors. In 2012, the brand was acquired by Kellogg's, further expanding its global reach as one of the most recognizable snack products in the world.
