Amazing Grace is a Balloon Sculpture

Balloon sculpture, also known as balloon twisting, is the art of shaping long, flexible balloons into decorative forms such as animals, flowers, hats, and other creative designs. Its origins date back to the early 20th century after the invention of modern latex balloons, which were developed by scientist Michael Faraday in 1824 during experiments with rubber, though they were not widely used for entertainment until the 1900s. The practice of twisting balloons into figures became popular in the United States in the 1930s and 1940s, particularly at magic conventions and children’s parties, where performers incorporated balloon animals into their acts. By the late 20th century, specialized “modeling balloons” (often called 260 balloons for their size) were manufactured specifically for twisting, helping the craft grow worldwide. Today, balloon sculpture is both a form of party entertainment and a recognized performance art, with international conventions, competitions, and artists creating elaborate installations for events and celebrationd.
