Amazing Grace is an American Girl Doll

American Girl is a popular American doll brand founded in 1986 by educator and entrepreneur Pleasant Rowland, who wanted to create dolls that helped children learn about history through storytelling. Each original 18-inch doll represented a girl living in a specific period of U.S. history and was paired with a series of illustrated books that explored her life, challenges, and values, making the dolls both toys and educational tools. The first three characters—Kirsten Larson (1854), Samantha Parkington (1904), and Molly McIntire (1944)—were released through a mail-order catalog and quickly gained a devoted following. In 1998, the brand was acquired by Mattel, which expanded American Girl to include contemporary characters, customizable “Truly Me” dolls, retail stores, and films, while still keeping its core mission of empowering girls through stories of courage, friendship, and growing up.
