Ty Beanie Babies are a line of collectible plush toys created by Ty Inc. and introduced in 1993 by entrepreneur Ty Warner, quickly becoming a global pop-culture phenomenon in the 1990s. Known for their small size, soft fabric, and distinctive red heart-shaped “Ty” tags, Beanie Babies were filled with plastic pellets rather than traditional stuffing, giving them a unique, flexible feel. Each character had its own name, birthday, and poem printed on the tag, which helped build emotional appeal and collectibility among fans. Limited production runs, frequent “retirements,” and clever marketing fueled intense demand, leading to a major collecting craze and secondary market boom during the decade. Although the market eventually cooled, Ty Beanie Babies remain iconic symbols of 1990s toy culture and are still collected today for nostalgia, design charm, and historical value.
