Manila Central Post Office (November 2025)

The Manila Central Post Office, an iconic neoclassical building located along the Pasig River in Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila, has long served as the headquarters of the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) and a symbol of the country’s postal heritage. Originally completed in 1926 and designed by architects Juan M. Arellano and Tomás Mapúa, the structure was a vital hub for mail and communication throughout the Philippines. Tragically, on the night of May 21, 2023, a massive fire engulfed the historic building, completely gutting its interior and destroying thousands of letters, parcels, and archival materials. The blaze lasted for hours and left only the building’s concrete shell standing, marking a heartbreaking loss for Philippine cultural and architectural history.
