Izummi Vinegar Pusit — often just called “Vinegar Pusit” — is a crunchy Filipino snack produced by Izummi Snacks Industries Corporation. It’s essentially a processed snack that draws inspiration from squid-based dishes: while traditional “pusit” means squid, the snack is made from a mix of wheat, cornstarch, vegetable oil, sugar, salt, MSG, and vinegar flavor (not real squid meat). Vinegar Pusit is cherished for its tangy, slightly sour-salty “asâm” bite — a flavor profile familiar to many Filipinos from classic dishes cooked in vinegar. It is typically sold in small, affordable pouches (often sold per “20’s” pack) and enjoyed as a crunchy snack or side with rice — evoking nostalgia for many who grew up with it.
