The M&M’s Red character, created by Mars, Inc., is one of the brand’s most recognizable mascots, known for his confident, sarcastic, and often self-important personality that contrasts humorously with the other candy characters. Introduced in the mid-1990s when M&M’s revamped its advertising with anthropomorphic candies, Red quickly became the “spokes-candy” who often takes center stage in commercials, portraying himself as the clever leader—even if things rarely go as he plans. Voiced for many years by actor Billy West, Red embodies the classic milk chocolate M&M and is typically portrayed as witty, slightly arrogant, and always ready with a punchline, making him a staple of Mars’ long-running and globally recognized marketing campaigns.
