The Pound Puppy Dalmatian released by Tonka in 1987 was part of the popular plush line known for its soft, floppy bodies and endearing “adopt me” theme that encouraged kids to give each puppy a loving home. This Dalmatian variant featured the brand’s signature droopy ears, big embroidered eyes, and a spotted white coat that made it especially appealing among collectors. Each Pound Puppy typically came with a cardboard kennel box and an adoption certificate, reinforcing the nurturing play pattern that defined the brand. Today, the 1987 Tonka Dalmatian is fondly remembered as one of the standout designs from the original series and is sought after by vintage toy enthusiasts for its nostalgic charm.
