The Tomica Sakai City Fire Bureau Rescue Work Vehicle was released as part of the McDonald's Japan Happy Set Tomica promotion in April–May 2023, a collaboration with Takara Tomy that featured miniature “working vehicle” toys based on real service vehicles. The toy represents a specialized rescue truck used by the Sakai City Fire Bureau, designed for advanced rescue operations. Included in the second wave of the 2023 Happy Set lineup, the model was inspired by the standard Tomica No. 32 vehicle and featured a movable rescue arm that can lift and rotate, allowing children to simulate emergency rescue scenarios. It was one of nine collectible vehicles in the promotion, which also included police cars, tow trucks, buses, and a secret model, encouraging imaginative play and introducing children to real-world public service vehicle.
