Michigan J. Frog Warner Bros. (1993)

Michigan J. Frog is a classic animated character associated with Warner Bros., though his popularity surged in the early 1990s when he became the mascot of The WB Television Network, which launched in 1995. Originally debuting in the 1955 Merrie Melodies short One Froggy Evening, Michigan J. Frog is known for his top hat, cane, and uncanny ability to sing and dance—famously performing ragtime songs like “Hello! Ma Baby.” A humorous twist defines his character: he only performs when alone with a single observer, but becomes an ordinary, silent frog whenever others are present, often causing frustration for whoever tries to showcase his talent. By 1993, the character was reintroduced to new audiences through renewed promotional use and later became an enduring symbol of quirky, nostalgic animation tied to Warner Bros.’ television branding.
