Canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (Pope Leo XIV September 7, 2025)

On September 7, 2025, Pope Leo XIV proclaimed Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati saints of the Catholic Church during a historic canonization Mass in St. Peter’s Square, attended by over 80,000 faithful. Acutis, a 15-year-old tech-savvy teenager who died of leukemia in 2006, became the Church’s first millennial saint, celebrated for his creation of a website cataloging Eucharistic miracles and his devout use of digital media for evangelization. Frassati, who died at 24 in 1925, was known for his deep commitment to social justice and his active participation in Catholic Action, dedicating his life to serving the poor and promoting the faith among his peers. In his homily, Pope Leo XIV emphasized that both saints exemplified a life fully directed toward God, urging the faithful, especially the youth, to live purposefully and make their lives masterpieces of holiness, service, and joy.
