Chop Suey is a classic dish of Chinese-American cuisine, known for its flavorful mix of vegetables, meat, and savory sauce served over rice or noodles. Traditionally, it includes ingredients such as bean sprouts, cabbage, celery, and carrots, combined with proteins like chicken, pork, beef, or shrimp. The dish is often stir-fried quickly to maintain the crispness of the vegetables while allowing the flavors of the sauce—usually a combination of soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and sometimes oyster sauce—to infuse the ingredients. Despite its Chinese origins, Chop Suey became widely popular in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, often adapted to local tastes, making it a staple of Chinese-American restaurants and a symbol of cultural fusion in cuisine.
