Guess who came to say hello to Kitty
Virgie Ramos was happy.
The president of the Gift Gate Group of Companies was happy because families turned out at the activity center at the Glorietta, Makati to celebrate “Hello Kitty! Hello Gift Gate! Day” last Sunday.
She was happy, especially because, of the people who attended, over 70 percent responded to a survey which usually they could not be bothered with. Just by looking around, one could see a lot of happy faces on the people participating in all activities.
People attended the different events and activities including Switch to Swatch, Lego-building contests, Sanrio Festival games, the Benetton Interactive disco Booth and Personal Style Consulting, Russ Christmas in September, the Kinder Zoo animal petting area and Montblanc’s fairy tale hour.
One of the highlights was the 32” Hello Kitty doll that is a life-size replica of a painting President Cory Aquino gave to her granddaughter Jia Dee. Because they were so excited with the “Dress Up Your Kitty” event, Sanrio flew in this honorary entry to the contest to encourage other contestants to really make the best dioramas they could.
Among the many celebrities in attendance were Vina Morales, Jolina Magdangal, Deither Ocampo, KC Montero, Paolo Bediones, Kris Aquino and Mikee Cojuangco.
During the”Dress Up Your Kitty” contest sneak preview, early entries impressed judges Ana Buenaventura, China Cojuangco, Girlie Rodis, March Ventosa and Inno Sotto who chose five winning dioramas: “Queen of the Flowers of Kitty’s Fairyland” by Joy Yanong, “Hello Kitty as Catwoman" by Percival R. Lugue, “Señorita Kitty” by Ma. Teresa Buenaobra, “Debut Kitty” by Ana Villaroman and “Millennium Bride” by Analyn Sarmiento. Winners received Php 10,000 worth of gift certificates, and automatic entry into the “Dress Up Your Kitty” finals on Oct. 15.
Prizes up to Php 100,000 await the grand prize winner on that day, also at the Glorietta. Any kind of Hello Kitty or Dear Daniel doll can be used for the various dioramas, and since electricity will be provided for the entries, contestants can light up their entries with whatever electronic gimmickry their imaginations and creativity can come up with. Entries in particular categories are limited to 2x2 ft. However, entries for the grand prize are not limited in size. All entries must be brought to Club Fun, 3/F Glorietta 2 from Oct. 1-10. Fifty thousand pesos await all winners in each of the 10 categories. All category entries are also eligible for the grand prize. All winners will be features in the upcoming Hello Kitty memories book.
The finals of the “Dress Up Your Kitty Contest” will be part of the activities at “Hello Kitty! Hello Gift Gate! Glam Jam” at the Glorietta on Oct. 15, another day-long party of style, trends and glamour where visitors are invited to show up in their party wear.
