In the 2019 animated adventure film Abominable, co-produced by DreamWorks Animation, Pearl Studio (formerly Oriental DreamWorks) and distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures, Jin is one of the teenage friends of the protagonist Yi who joins her and their buddy Peng on a heartfelt journey across China to help a magical young Yeti named Everest return to his family in the Himalayas. Voiced by Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Jin starts off as a somewhat vain and modern teen more concerned with his image, but as the adventure progresses he grows closer to his friends and proves his loyalty and courage amid the challenges posed by the film’s antagonist and other obstacles. The film, directed by Jill Culton and co-directed by Todd Wilderman, blends visually striking landscapes with themes of friendship, family, and self-discovery, marking a significant collaboration between Western and Chinese animation studios.
