The Penguin, also known as Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, is one of Batman’s oldest and most cunning enemies in the DC Universe. Unlike many of Batman's foes, Penguin is not insane, he's a criminal mastermind and mob boss with a flair for the aristocratic. His first appearance was in the Detective Comics #58 published in 1941 with creators Bob Kane and Bill Finger.Penguin often works alone, but sometimes aligns with other villains of Gotham. he is a short, rotund man with a long nose and a monocle and is always well-dressed with top hat, tuxedo, and spats. he often carries an umbrella with hidden gadgets like guns, flamethrowers, gas emitters, even helicopters! he is intelligent, calculating, and ruthless. he is less psychotic than villains like Joker or Two-Face and often a businessman first, criminal second. he is obsessed with high society and class, despite his outcast status.
