Toothless, the Night Fury dragon from How to Train Your Dragon, doesn’t speak in words but communicates through expressive sounds, growls, and body language. These vocalizations were created by Randy Thom, the film’s sound designer, with contributions from director Dean DeBlois and sound editor Al Nelson. They used a mix of real animal sounds—like cats, elephants, and horses—blended with human noises to bring Toothless’s unique, emotive voice to life.
