Beast Boy, whose real name is Garfield Logan, had a tragic past involving the loss of his parents, Mark and Marie Logan, who were scientists working in Africa. As a child, Garfield contracted a rare and deadly disease called Sakutia, which could only be cured by an experimental treatment involving a green monkey’s DNA. The treatment saved his life but permanently turned his skin green and gave him the ability to transform into any animal. Sadly, shortly after his recovery, his parents died in a boating accident, leaving Garfield orphaned and eventually leading him to join the Doom Patrol before finding a true family with the Teen Titans.
